Netherlands v Morocco (World Cup)

Coverage of the round-of-32 match at Monterrey Stadium in Mexico. The European side made it through to this stage after they finished top of Group F thanks to winning two and drawing one of their three matches. 5-1 and 3-1 victories over Sweden and Tunisia put them through after they drew 2-2 with Japan in their opening match of the tournament. Morocco finished second in Group C behind five-time winners Brazil on goal difference, and beat Haiti 4-2 in their final game to end their group campaign on seven points and progress to the knockout stages for the second successive time. These two sides have met just the once in a competitive match when they faced each other in a group match at the 1994 World Cup. Netherlands won that game 2-1 thanks to goals from Dennis Bergkamp and Bryan Roy.

France are the tournament favourites, after an impressive group campaign that saw them win all three matches and score goals for fun, including a 4-1 win against a weakened Norway in their last match. Sweden have produced a mixed bag of results to progress in third place from their group, thrashing Tunisia, being hammered by the Netherlands, and then drawing 1-1 to Japan, in a result that saw both teams qualify.

Egypt came through their group undefeated, beating New Zealand and drawing with Belgium and Iran, with the winners expected to face Argentina in the last 16.
